Our Continued Journey to Restore the Planet

Our Continued Journey to Restore the Planet

At Central Office, we have a mission that encompasses a purpose for the future – to #RestoreThePlanet.

The cumulative impact of corporate operations has placed our planet on a perilous path and it is our responsibility to ensure we are at the forefront of sustainable practices. We strive to be the preferred choice for customers with properties in peril or under construction, prioritising value, people, planet and speed.

Although we have made significant strides towards our mission, there is still a long road ahead. We invite you to join us on this journey, where together we can give Mother Nature a fighting chance to maintain a thriving, green ecosystem for generations to come.

Becoming a ‘Paperless Office’

Introducing our Paper Report

At Central Office, we have embarked on a transformative initiative to become a ‘Paperless Office,’ driven by our commitment to environmental sustainability. To quantify our progress and identify areas for improvement, we have analysed our paper usage from 2021 to the present, encompassing not only traditional paper but also paper towels utilised within our office spaces.

The findings of this comprehensive report underscore the urgency of our mission, as it highlights the substantial financial and environmental costs associated with our paper consumption. Recognising the need for innovative solutions, we have embraced the cutting-edge technology of Rocketbooks, a revolutionary alternative to traditional notebooks.

These ingenious books allow notes to be effortlessly wiped clean with a cloth, enabling each page to be reused endlessly, thereby eliminating the need for disposable notebooks. By adopting Rocketbooks, we are poised to save an estimated 432 kilograms of carbon emissions annually, a significant stride in our journey towards a greener future.

Our commitment to becoming a Paperless Office is not just a fleeting trend but a fundamental shift in our operational philosophy. By embracing sustainable practices and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we are paving the way for a future where environmental stewardship and business success go hand in hand.

Achieving Gold with the Supply Chain Sustainability School

With a strong commitment to environmental protection and social responsibility, we embarked on a transformative journey, fuelled by a determination to make a lasting impact on our industry and the world at large. Our path was illuminated by the Supply Chain Sustainability School, which provided us with a structured framework for advancing sustainability through its progressive certification system.

Embarking on our sustainability journey, we immersed ourselves in the curated courses, workshops and resources, starting at the Bronze level. These educational modules guided us through a broad spectrum of topics, from sustainable procurement practices to carbon footprint reduction strategies, laying the foundation for a profound shift in our organisational mind-set and operations.

Inspired by the knowledge gained, we pursued the Silver certification, delving deeper into the complexities of sustainability management, refining our strategies and aligning our practices with industry best practices and standards.

As we ascended toward the pinnacle of sustainability excellence, the Gold certification, we undertook a monumental task – documenting our utilisation of SCSS resources and the resulting impact on our business. This comprehensive case study serves as a testament to the transformative power of sustainability education and its profound implications for organisational growth and resilience.

Through our dedication and the invaluable guidance of the SCSS, we have woven sustainability into the very fabric of our organisation, ensuring that our actions today pave the way for a greener, more sustainable tomorrow. We hope to inspire others to embrace sustainable practices and recognize the profound impact that collective action can have on our planet’s future.

Evie the EV

We’re thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our fleet, Evie – our first electric van and a trailblazer in our journey towards sustainability. This pioneering electric vehicle was unveiled amidst great fanfare at our 2023 Rainbow Reunion, where Paul Ryan from our Rainbow Restoration Portsmouth branch emerged as the fortunate winner.

Evie’s unveiling was a resounding success, made possible through the invaluable partnership with our electrical vehicle partners, DriveElectric. Their support and expertise have been instrumental in propelling us towards a greener future.

Our blog has more information about our partnership with DriveElectric and how we have implemented their vehicles into our business.

Since her triumphant debut, Evie has embarked on an extraordinary voyage, exploring the radiant South Coast while leaving a minimal carbon footprint. From her inaugural car wash to her first trip to the services, Evie has been embracing every milestone with enthusiasm, ensuring that our commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond mere rhetoric.

But Evie’s journey is not merely about transportation; it’s a testament to our dedication to preserving the pristine beauty of the areas we serve. As she navigates the breath-taking beaches and landscapes, Evie serves as a beacon of hope reminding us that sustainable practices can coexist harmoniously with business operations.

Through our social media platforms, Evie has been sharing her captivating experiences, inspiring others to join us in this transformative journey towards a greener tomorrow. Her presence is a powerful symbol of our determination to leave a lasting positive impact on the planet.

Every 6 weeks, we calculate to see how much carbon she saves. So far she has saved an estimate of 740 kilograms of carbon, which is equivalent to:

  • 829 pounds of coal burned.
  • 90,016 smartphones charged.
  • 72.7 gallons of diesel consumed.
  • 34 propane cylinders used for barbeques.
