But why, you may ask, have we embarked on this exciting journey of sustainability and why is this framework so important?
Our Commitment to Transparency
At Rainbow Restoration, we’ve always believed in the power of transparency. We’ve made it our mission to restore homes and properties after disasters, but we’ve come to realise that our mission extends beyond just bricks and mortar.
It encompasses the very earth beneath our feet, the air we breathe, and the communities we serve.
Introducing Our Sustainability Framework
To guide our journey and align our efforts, we’re proud to unveil our comprehensive Sustainability Framework. This framework is the backbone of our environmental initiatives, and it’s the roadmap we’re following to ensure a greener and more sustainable future for all.
Our roadmap is structured around four vital steps and categories to inspire our commitment to a sustainable future. In Step 1, we partnered with RSK to assess our emissions, gaining insights into scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions to set realistic carbon reduction targets in line with guidance from the SBTi.
Step 2 focuses on Operations and Carbon Neutralisation. We’re making immediate improvements to reduce emissions from existing business activities and investing in carbon offsetting. Achieving ISO14001 and ISO50001 status is part of our broader operations project.
In Step 3, we address our Carbon Neutral Supply Chain. We collaborate with suppliers to advocate for carbon neutralisation, reducing indirect emissions linked to our operations.
Lastly, Step 4 outlines our path to Becoming Net Zero, encompassing a long-term emission reduction strategy, including Science-Based Targets. Our Framework Report for 2023 goes into detail in our Emissions Assessment, Operations Focus and Carbon Neutralisation, Carbon Neutral Supply Chain, and the Development of our Long-Term Emission Reduction Strategy.

A Platform for Inspiration
But it’s not just about sharing data and numbers; it’s about inspiring change. Each edition of our newsletter will feature a different Eco Champion from within our team – someone who’s going above and beyond to help us reach our sustainability goals.

Our first Eco Champion, Michelle Gill, exemplifies this spirit. Beyond her role at Rainbow, she’s studying Environmental Studies at university, showcasing a personal dedication to environmental stewardship. Her story is just the beginning of the inspiring narratives we’ll be sharing.

We identified key focus areas for improvement which inspired a plethora of ideas, including energy-efficient lighting, sustainable event practices, innovative note-taking, and the adoption of new technologies. These areas are integral components of our commitment to sustainability, and they are all detailed in our newsletter.
