Driving Change for a Sustainable Future: Our Three New Cutting-Edge Electric Vehicles

Rainbow Restoration are slamming the brakes on their carbon emissions, and solidifying their commitment to #RestoreThePlanet. In 2022, we embarked on our journey, redefining our company values with greener objectives.

Embracing a new vision that prioritises people, planet, value and speed, we recognised the importance of reducing our environmental impact. This led us to evaluate our entire business with the support of our partnership with global sustainability leaders RSK.

RSK have been instrumental in assisting us with calculating our scope 1, 2 & 3 carbon footprint, based on our existing consumption. We have now established measurable and attainable Science Based Targets, in line with guidance provided by the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTI).

The overarching goal is to achieve Net Zero status. Whilst this serves as a long-term strategy to improve upon our responsibilities as a corporate entity, it also represents a much more important pathway to an environmentally friendly future for everyone.

During our journey, we identified our fleet accounts for 43% of the company’s total emissions, prompting a pressing need to invest in a greener transportation solution. Acknowledging this, we proudly established a partnership with DriveElectric, an award winning company revolutionising the electric vehicle industry.

This collaboration perfectly aligns with our sustainability principles, as we are inspired and motivated by DriveElectric’s commitment to facilitating conscientious travel for businesses and individuals alike. They are pioneers in EV technology, working on innovative research projects focused on testing the impacts of EV charging on the energy grid and developing ‘smart charging’ solutions.

Their commitment lays a robust foundation for a future that is not only environmentally sustainable but also economically efficient.

The European Environment Agency anticipates the production of electric cars will continue to become more efficient and electricity cleaner, with the life-cycle emissions of a typical electric vehicle predicted to be cut by at least 73% by 2050. With this promising outlook for the future of sustainable transportation, we are excited to lead the way in embracing environmentally-friendly technologies.

We are thrilled to announce the latest additions to our fleet – three fully electric vehicles that have just been delivered, complementing the hybrid vehicle already in use. Not only are they emissions-free, but they also signify a significant step forward in reducing our carbon footprint.

As part of our commitment to electric transportation, we have also taken the initiative to install five EV charging points at Central Office. These charging stations will be accessible to both our employees and visitors, making convenient charging an easily accessible reality.

By investing in EV infrastructure, we aim to support and encourage the increased adoption of electric vehicles, both at Central Office and in our network. This serves not only as a reflection of our environmental responsibility but also as a testament to the potential of clean and conscientious transportation.
