Rainbow Restoration Welcomes Synthotech as Key Partner in Leak Detection

One method we use in our comprehensive Leak Detection service is the non-destructive technique of injecting a mixture of 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen Tracer Gas into pipe systems to identify leaks.
Once deployed, the gas travels through the pipework and escapes through any leak points. Since most building materials are permeable to gas, it rises through the structure and is then detected by a highly sensitive tracer gas detector.
As the first milestone of our partnership, Rainbow’s Technical Manager, Lee Harrington and Synthotech’s Director for Water, Craig Duthie, collaborated to refine the Esders Olli Tracer Gas Detection System for improved adaptability in our day-to-day applications.
The Esders Olli is a user-friendly system equipped with a 20-litre-per-hour pump that operates continuously in “Leak Detection” mode. Its H2 Sensor is securely built into a rugged case for optimal protection.
The LCD Graphic Display provides rapid Parts Per Million readings and clearly indicates a significant drop when moved away from the Hydrogen source increasing accuracy.
To enhance versatility, several alternative probes are available for the Olli and Lee and Craig have developed specialist kits to meet specific needs of our network. The Carpet Probe is a valuable addition for external leak detection applications.
