Why You Could Love A Builders’ Clean For Your Home

Are you thinking about extending your house rather than moving? Does the potential mess left behind by the builders put you off? If so, you may want to consider booking a builders clean once your extension has been completed.

A builders’ clean isn’t just for builders. Regardless of how big or small the project, or whether you have the most careful and tidiest of tradespeople, there will always be dirt and dust that gets into even the most unlikely of places and you may not have the time, or the tools, for the job.

Why book a builders’ clean?

Building is a messy job especially if trades such as plasterers and painters haven’t kept their areas clean. And there’s no point cleaning until all the work is completed as you’ll just need to keep going over the same area again and again. It’s also worth considering leaving it a couple of days after the last job has been done, so all the dust can completely settle, and then the cleaners can get into every nook and cranny!

What do I need to do?

You don’t need to do anything except make sure the site is clear of any rubbish or building debris and all the tradespeople have finished their work so the cleaners can get on with theirs.

What happens in a builders clean?

A builders clean is a thorough clean of the whole area from top to bottom.

Floors: All flooring, including the tiles in wet areas, will be vacuumed and mopped. Dirty floors will be scrubbed, cleaned and polished with a scrubber dryer buffer machine and, if especially dirty or stained, carpets will be treated and washed.

Shelves, cupboards and cabinets: All cupboards and cabinets, including the kitchen and bathroom, will be cleaned inside and out.

Sanitary ware: Bathroom fittings will be cleaned including mirrors.

High-level fittings: All high-level fittings will be wiped over including light fittings and extractor fans.

Windows: Windows and any other glazing will be washed via the traditional window cleaning method where accessible and wiped clean to a smear-free shine with a microfibre cloth.

Exterior: External gutters, paintwork, paving, soffits and fascias of new build properties will also be washed down and balconies and pathways swept.
